As it turns out, the Devcore Guardian Pack wasn’t the only quick-deploy plate carrier pack (backpack) DefenseReview saw at SHOT Show 2019. We also got a quick look at the Ballistipax Survivor-1 Tactical Body Armor Backpack, which also looks like a nice design, although with a different visual aesthetic than the Guardian Pack. Like the Guardian Pack, the Survivor-1 pack can be deployed extremely quickly with one hand, and is ambidextrous, in that regard.

Ballistipax also had their own branded soft and hard armor plates at their booth at SHOT, which impressed us. The following info on the Survivor-1 quick-deploy body armor/plate carrier pack comes directly from the Ballistipax website:

SURVIVOR-1 serves day-to-day necessity as a fully functional backpack with added protection and piece-of-mind. From students to first responders, SURVIVOR-1 combines features designed for any wearer, such as:
– Single-handed Deployment
– Customization with any standard NIJ Body Armor
– Expandable functionality with integrated MOLLE system
– Fully Functioning Storage Utility
– Heavy carrying capacity (80lbs+)
– Removable side utility packs/Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs)
– Plate carrier is easily removed and interchangeable with other additional Ballistipax backpacks”

Check out the video DR shot below of the Survivor-1 pack being demonstrated and explained at SHOT Show 2019:
