B&T (formerly Brugger and Thomet) recently introduced an upgraded variant of the B&T SMG APC9/45 lightweight submachine gun system at SHOT Show 2019 called the B&T SMG APC9/45 Pro, and DefenseReview (DR) got to take a quick look at it. The new B&T SMG APC9 Pro and APC45 Pro have a non-repicrocating, ambidextrous (dual) folding charging handle and a remobable AR-15-style pistol grip. The APC9/45 Pro SMG’s lower can also be swapped out for a “Glock lower” that acceps Glock pistol mags. We assume this applies to both the APC9 Pro AND APC45 Pro, but we’ll try to get confirmation on this.
Until very recently the logic was that a suppressed select-fire AR SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) was the better way to go for dynamic CQB/CQC (Close Quarters Battle/Close Quarters Combat), but it looks like folks are realizing just how effective a suppressed pistol-caliber SMG can be in 9mm and .45 ACP, particularly with quality +P or +P+ JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) ammo, for this purpose.
Editor’s Note: Check out DR writer/contributor Jeff Gurwitch’s article on this topic. It’s a good read.
