Last year, DefenseReview (DR) reported on the Condor Elite VAS (Vanquish Armor System) Plate Carrier from SHOT Show 2017. Well, this year, DR got a first look at a prototype Condor Elite FLASH plate carrier, rifle and pistol mag (magazine) pouches and combat/tactical accessory pouches made from an ultra-lightweight material that your humble correspondent (that would be me) extemperaneously named for them.
Basically, as our friend Chris Dunn of Covered 6 (also written “Covered Six“) and Condor Elite was showing us the new prototype (FLASH) system material, he explained that they didn’t have a name for the material, plate carrier, mag pouches, etc. yet, and then handed me a mag pouch. Upon receiving it, I immediately remarked something to the effect of “Wow, this is f*ckin’ light as sh*t,” to which Dunn replied something akin to, “That’s it! That’s what we’ll call it, “F-L-A-S”. Then we both discussed it, added the “H” from our last word, and named it “FLASH”, ’cause, um, well, that just works better.
So, the “FLASH” system was born, and DR strikes again. We think it’s a great name. It’s bold, it’s catchy, it’s active, it works.
But the FLASH material itself isn’t the only impressive aspect of the system. The prototype Condor Elite FLASH plate carrier, mag pouches and tactical accessory pouches all looked well designed and constructed. The plate carrier looks very well thought-out, and incorporates laser-cut triangular mounting holes that are the latest replacement for/improvement on MOLLE/PALS.
Remember, as you’re looking at the photos and watching the video below, everything you’re seeing is a developmental prototype, NOT a finished, production product.
