Tactical gear maker Condor Outdoor Products (COP) recently showed DefenseReview (DR) a Condor Sentry tactical armor plate carrier prototype in Crye Precision MultiCam camouflage pattern at SHOT Show 2014. Condor executive Henry Ko was kind enough to take us through some of the features of the Condor Sentry Lightweight Plate Carrier prototype, even though it’s still undergoing development and won’t be available until later in the year, around June or July (2014). The Sentry is a lightweight minimalist/lo-pro/lo-vis (low profile/low-visibility) plate carrier that sports fast-adjustable shoulder and side straps. The shoulder pads are fairly wide to maximize comfort, and the adjustment system is an easy and quick sliding system that’s secured with velcro. There are also two velcro loops for a tactical hydration tube or antennae. Tactical hydration can be mounted on the back of the vest via MOLLE attachment, below the nice big drag handle.
According to the Condor Out Door Products Facebook page, “the Sentry features emergency drag handles, quick adjust padded shoulder straps, hook and loop webbing panels and tube guides, quick release buckles with cinch adjustments, and the ability to hold M/L ESAPI plates,” but we’d recommend you check out the video DR shot, here:
Condor has also released the following features and specifications data on the Sentry Lightweight Plate Carrier:
- Cummerbund-Less Design
- Low Profile & Lightweight
- Accommodates Medium Ballistic Plates
- Mesh Interior for Maximum Ventilation
The Condor Outdoor Sentry Plate Carrier can accept medium sized SAPI plates. Constructed out of durable 600D nylon, this plate carrier has a low profile and ventilated design. This plate carrier is adjustable for height via shoulder straps and girth via buckle side straps. The cummerbund-less design allows for easyy access to all belt mounted equipment. Additionally, the MOLLE webbing on the front and rear of the plate carrier will allow the user to mount magazine pouches, hydration carriers, and other necessities for the mission. The upper portion of the plate carrier contains hook and loop velcro straps for patches, I.D. placards, IFF tapes, etc. Additionally, the back of the plate carrier contains a velcro loop on the left and right side to properly secure your hydration line.
