The new Midwest Industries MI Combat Rifle Sight (CRS) Sets weren’t the only new products DefenseReview (DR) saw at the company’s booth at SHOT Show 2019, of course. Oh, no. MI also showed us some new MI Combat Rail systems with M-LOK, Keymod, and “Combat T-Series” full MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rail configurations, and those looked pretty sweet, too. DR prefers M-LOK at the moment, particularly for longer carbine and rifle rails, so we were pleased to see two of those–but the Combat T-Series SBR (Short Barreled Rifle)-length MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” Combat Rail MI marketing manager Pete Bratz showed us also looked pretty cool, as you can see in the accompanying photos and videos.
The new MI Combat Rails no longer require any adhesive on the barrel nut during installation. “So, installation in this {MI Combat Rail] is extremely simple and straightforward. Tighten up the barrel nut to the provided specs, install your gas block and gas tube. There’s no timing on the barrel nut. It uses our patented torque plate that sits righ inside of here. Tighten up your two cross-bolts, and you’re done. This particular version is the ultra-lightweight. It comes with a titanium barrel nut, and titanium cross-bolts,” said Bratz.
Bratz went on to tell DR that “Another change we did in all of the new Combat [Rail] Series, is we removed the front QD swivel [mount] for slings. What we found is guys didn’t like that because it took away their ability to mount lights as far forward as they wanted to. So, we went ahead and removed it.”
DR also really dug the black and white camo (camouflage) Cerakoted M-LOK MI Combat Rail that was done by Hillbilly 223 Urban Finishes, which you can also see in the accompanying photos and video. “He [Boyd Lemmons] is very good at what he does,” Bratz told us, and DR agrees.
Defense Review has been a fan of Midwest Industries’ rail systems/tactical handguards for a long time, and for good reason. You simply can’t beat them in terms of bang for the buck, quality for your dollar. They’re as good as it gets at they’re price point, and we highly recommend them for any gun build. You simply can’t go wrong.
