Jesus, Remington’s been pretty busy over there, apparently. As if the Remington ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) and MSR (Modular Sniper Rifle) “leaked” promo videos aren’t enough, they’ve gone and produced and released/”leaked” another video for SHOT Show 2010, this one on the Remington M24E bolt-action “Sniper Weapon System (SWS)” sniper rifle, which is a significantly modernized and militarized version of their classic M24-A2 Sniper Weapon System (SWS) sniper rifle. The text in the just-released (oh, we’re sorry,”leaked”) M24E video states that the M24E is chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum (.300 Win. Mag). We would think that Remington would have designed/developed the M-24E to be modular/multi-caliber, somewhat like the MSR, so that it can be adapted to also utilize 7.62mm NATO (7.62x51mm NATO) ammunition, just like the standard M24 (also written M-24) and subsequent M24-A2 (also written M-24-A2) “Sniper Weapon System” sniper rifles, which are based on the Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle. We believe this is the case, but we’re not sure, and we’ve been, so far, unsuccessful in reaching Roy Gifford at Remington. When we find out, we’ll update this article, accordingly. It would be CRAZY and illogical if the M24E can’t utilize 7.62mm NATO ammo. This is why we’re guessing it does, before we get confirmation.
Whew! We’re tired just reporting on all these freaking videos! Enough, already. Kidding. Actually, our motto is the more videos, the better. Let’s just hope all the weapons being promoted live up to the hype.
The Firearm Blog also has a short blurb on the M4E.
