DefenseReview gave its readers a heads-up, yesterday, on the “leaked” Remington Adaptive Combat Rifle (ACR) promo video. So, while we’re on the subject of leaked Remington videos, we might as well show this one as well:
The above Remington MSR (Modular Sniper Rifle) promotional video is just as “leaked” (heavy sarcasm) as the ACR promo video. It would seem that Remington is purposely “leaking” these (tactical) product promo videos to create some buzz on Remington Mil/LE tactical rifles right before SHOT Show 2010 (unconfirmed/unverified), which is smart.
The Remington Modular Sniper Rifle (MSR), which we covered in June 2009, is a modular, multi-caliber bolt-action sniper/anti-materiel rifle that can be chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum (.338LM, also written .338 LM), .338 Norma Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum (.300 Win. Mag), and 7.62mm NATO (7.62x51mm NATO) calibers, depending on the mission-specific requirement(s). It was specifically designed and developed to compete for the SOCOM (USSOCOM) Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR) contract. If chosen, it could potentially replace the “currently-fielded Bolt Action SOF Sniper Systems (MK13, M40, M24).”
Defense Review has published information a a number of .338 Lapua Magnum sniper/anti-materiel rifles (see “Related Articles” links below), so we’re interested to see how the Remington MSR stacks up to the competition.
