Silver Shadow Gilboa Select Fire 5.56mm Tactical AR Pistol 3 <! :en >Silver Shadow Gilboa APR (Assault Pistol Rifle) Select Fire Tactical AR (AR 15) PDW/SBR/Pistol for Military Special Operations (SPECOPS) Applications<! : >DoubleTapper“, an Israeli blogger, has published a piece on the 4th Annual Israel Defence Exhibition (ISDEF 2010) in Tel Aviv. In that piece, he’s published some photos of the Silver Shadow Gilboa APR (Assault Pistol Rifle) select-fire tactical AR (AR-15) PDW (Personal Defense Weapon)/SBR (Short Barreled Rifle)/pistol, which, according to Army Recognition can be chambered in the following calibers: 5.56x45mm NATO (5.56mm NATO)/.223 Rem., 7.62x51mm NATO (7.62mm NATO)/.308 Win., 7.62x39mm Russian, 9mm Parabellum (9x19mm NATO), and . 22 LR. “DoubleTapper’s” photos show the Gilboa APR with what appears to be a 7-7.5″ (7-7.5-inch) barrel, but the weapon can reportedly be had with a barrel as short as 4.5″ (4.5 inches). The Gilboa 5.56mm tactical AR pistol shown sports a left-side (left-side-situated) charging handle and side-folding stock (buttstock).

This is what allows the use of a side-folding stock and shorter OA (overall) weapon profile.

DefenseReview (DR) is interested to see the 7.62mm NATO/.308 Win.-version Gilboa APR, which will obviously require a larger AR-10-profile lower/upper receiver assembly, if it indeed exists.

DR is also curious as to whether or not a FERFRANS Specialties Rate Reduction System (RRS) can be integrated into the Gilboa, since we’re guessing the weapon’s cyclic rate of fire (ROF) is pretty high, although we could be wrong.

(SSASS) is owned and run by Amos Golan, and is the same company behind the design and development of Corner Shot, which yours truly discussed on the TV show Ultimate Weapons on the Military Channel. In fact, it the Gilboa APR has also been integrated with Corner Shot to create the 5.56 Corner Shot APR a.k.a. CS-APR 5.56.

Addendum 10/24/10: Defense Update has also published an articleon the Gilboa APR PDW. The article contains a photo showing the 7.62x39mm version, which utilizes standard Kalashnikov AK-47/AKM mags.
