While DefenseReview (DR) was perusing the Tactical Night Vision Company (TNVC) and Unity Tactical booth(s) at SHOT Show 2016, we asked Trent Zimmer to show us the uber-cool TNVC NVG (Night Vision Goggle) Adapter for GoPro HERO4 Series and HERO Session Waterproof Cameras with Wilcox Industries amber beam-splitter assembly for NVG’s (Night Vision Goggles) and monoculars like the Adams Industries (AI)/TNVC Sentinel Night Vision Goggle (NVG)/Imaging System and TNVC TNV/PVS-14 Tactical Night Vision Monocular (NVM) System. The Wilcox amber beam splitter “attaches to the rear of the goggle, bouncing the night vision image 90° into a perpendicular-mounted GoPro HERO camera”. Sounds pretty simple.

The TNVC NVG Adapter for GoPro HERO Cameras allows the end-user/operator to record exactly what he/she’s seeing through the tube(s), and vice-versa (i.e., see exactly what he/she’s recording). This is particularly useful for combat/tactical missions/operations training AAR’s (After Action Reports). While the NVG Adapter for GoPro HERO Cameras is a TNVC, Zimmer told DR that Unity Tactical designed the mount(s).

Defense Review was really impressed with the two units we saw at SHOT, and would love to get ahold of a unit for our next force-on-force dynamic CQB/CQC (Close Quarters Battle/Close Quarters Combat) low-light/no-light gunfighting course.

We’re also going to try to find out if TNVC and Unity Tactical is developing (or CAN develop) a similar system for thermal/IR (InfraRed) weapon sights like the BAE Systems OASYS SkeetIR and StalkIR Universal Thermal Monocular (UTM) Thermal/IR (Infrared) Weapon Sights, and/or the Insight Technology/Insight Tech-Gear CNVD-T (Clip-On Thermal Sight) Weapon Sight.
