The U.S. Army has a new toy for off-road adventures in third world countries. It’s called the SmarTruck II. It comes complete with the latest global communications equpment, 360 degree video surveillance gear, and a dual SPIKE laser-guided missile launcher utilizing an 18-round magazine.

The SmarTruck II is part of the U.S. Army’s overall movement towards a lighter, faster ground combat force that includes the Objective Force and Objective Force Warrior concepts. Increased speed, mobility, and adaptability are the name of the game for…

future U.S. infantry forces, especially since they are likely to be engaged in relatively small scale conflicts that will include urban environments.

Unfortunately, the SmarTruck II won’t be coming to a dealership near you–but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a look.
