While we’re on the subject of new rifle/carbines, Knight’s Armament Company (KAC) has just introduced a new 7.62x51mm NATO (7.62mm NATO)/.308 Win. battle rifle/carbine called, appropriately and simply enough, the 7.62mm NATO Battle Rifle. The KAC 7.62mm NATO Battle Rifle is basically a SOPMOD M4/M4A1-config 7.62x51mm battle rifle/carbine. DefenseReview has been told that MK-11 MOD 0 rifle (U.S. military version of SR-25 rifle) lower receivers for certain Special Opeations personnel have been modified to accept the much shorter 7.62mm Battle Rifle upper receiver assembly, so the guns can be quickly converted for the CQB/CQC (Close Quarters Battle / Close Quarters Combat) role.

The KAC 7.62mm NATO Battle Rifle uses the same 10-shot and 20-shot box mags as the XM110 SASS rifle.

The KAC Battle Rifle comes with the KAC URX (Upper Receiver Extension) Mil-Std-1913 rail system/forend rail tube for mounting combat/tactical optics, lasers, tactical weapons lights, etc.
