Speaking of interesting cans (muzzle cans), Rugged Suppressors had some pretty interesting ones in their booth, and DefenseReview (DR) liked what we saw. Two that we specifically liked are the Oculus22 modular, belt-fed full-auto-rated .22LR-5.7x28mm can, and the Obsidian9 modular, belt-fed full-auto-rated 9mm (9mm Parabellum/9x19mm NATO) can, both of which utilize Rugged Suppressors’ proprietary ADAPT Modular Technology, allowing the end-user to quickly and easily change the length and sound suppression level of the suppressor. The Oculus22 can can go from 5.25″ and 6.9 oz down to 3.25″ and 4.3 oz, while the Obsidian 9 can go from 7.8″ and 12.7 oz to 4.85″ and 8.7 oz.
Several other Rugged Suppressors, like the Obsidian45, Surge762, and Micro30, have the same level of mission-configurable length and weight modularity, and belt-fed capability. The Obsidian9 and Obsidian45 also have reduced gas blowback thanks to a “non-slotted [piston] design creating a full-circumference gas seal”.
Mounting solutions range from Rugged Suppressors’ Dual Taper Locking System to their Revolutionary Mounting System.
Obviously, a lot of advanced design and engineering went into these things. Defense Review would like to learn more about this at some point, and perhaps publish a follow-up piece. In the meantime, DR’s video below will take you through some of the highlights of the suppressors.
