Speaking of the latest and greatest tactical weapons illumination tech , DefenseReview (DR) also got to check out the SureFire X300V LED Handgun or Long Gun WeaponLight – White and IR Output at SHOT Show 2016, and we liked what we saw. The X300V combines a 350-lumen LED tactical white light (TIR-lensed focused beam) with a 120-milliwatt (mW) IR (Infrared) illuminator for use with tactical night vision devices (NVD’s) during night ops (operations), and you can switch between white and IR light modes with just a twist of the bezel, as opposed to using filters. Pretty cool.
The X300V’s lights are activated with its patented toggle switch, allowing the operator/shooter to activate it with the support-hand thumb, and the unit is ambidextrous. Just press the switch on either side for momentary-on, or rotate up or down for constant-on. DG grip switches and a pressure-activated XT07 tape switch (remote dual switch assembly for X-series WeaponLights) are available for handgun/pistol and long-gun use, respectively. The X300V attaches to a combat/tactical pistol or tactical AR (AR-15) carbine/SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) via its Rail-Lock® system, and will attach to any Universal or MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rail system/tactical hand guard.
Regarding durability, the SureFire X300V WeaponLight is “constructed of high-strength aerospace aluminum with Mil-Spec hard anodizing for extreme durability, the ultra-reliable X300V is also O-ring sealed to withstand even the harshest conditions.”
While DR didn’t get the opportunity to handle the SureFire X400V IRc WeaponLight at SHOT, we’re very interested in it, as it combines a 350-lumen LED tactical white light with a 120-mW IR illuminator and 0.7 mW infrared laser aimer/sight. You can utilizes the aforementioned DG grip switches and/or XT107 tape switch with the X400V IRc. The X400V IRc is claimed to exhibit similar durability/ruggedness to the X300V under adverse conditions and high round count.
