Taran Tactical Innovations (TTI), run by champion 3-Gun and IPSC competitive shooter Taran Butler, has just introduced what appear to be some pretty badass extended basepads for Glock pistol mags (magazines), assuming of course they work as advertised. DefenseReview (DR) doesn't run them at the range, yet, so we're just giving our readers a quick heads-up on them.

The TTI Glock Magazine Basepads are made from aluminum billet, are hard anodized and come in two sizes: Small and Large. When attached to a standard 17-round Glock 17 magazine, the TTI Glock Firepower Small Basepad gives the shooter 21+1 rounds of 9mm Parabellum/9x19mm firepower, or 4 extra rounds. When attached to the 15-round Glock 22 mag, the TTI Glock Firepower Small Basepad gives the shooter 18+1 rounds of .40 S&W, or 3 extra rounds.

The TTI Glock Firepower Large Basepad w/Spring gives the shooter 23+1 (9mm) rounds and 20+1 (.40 S&W) rounds, respectively, or a a 6-round/5-round boost. DefenseReview recommends the TTI Glock Firepower Large Basepad w/Spring, since the included ISMI +10% extra-power spring is necessary for reliable functioning (of large basepad). You can also purchase the TTI Glock Firepower Large Basepad by itself without the ISMI spring for $5.00 less, but DR recommends getting it with the ISMI +10%-power magazine spring as a basepad/spring package. Remember, a reliable magazine is at least half the battle when it comes to pistol reliability, and that includes Glock pistols.

Defense Review has seen three different TTI Glock Basepad colors (black, red and purple), so far, but our favorite color is just plain tactical black for a tactical/combat pistol. All the TTI Glock Firepower Baesepads feature a patented "proven" push pin design (takedown pin), which allows the user to attach and detach the basepad very easily and quickly.

DR looks forward to getting some sample units to run at the range. Until then, enjoy the accompanying photos and following info, which comes directly from the TTI website:
