The TNVC/Chromatra ColorTAC CVA-14 Color Night Vision Module for the PVS-14 night vision monocular wasn’t the only interesting item DefenseReview (DR) came across at the TNVC booth at SHOT Show 2018. Oh, no, no, no. They had some additional tactical goodies, including the nifty (and handy) TNVC Thermal Remote Battery (TRB), which is a “Universal Rechargeable Battery System for Thermal Devices”. The one DR saw at SHOT was hooked up to the excellent FLIR ThermoSight PRO PTS233 thermal imaging weapon sight, which appears to be an excellent thermal/IR weapons sight at that price point ($2,199.00 USD). The TNVC TRB thermal remote battery pack itself comes in at a very reasonable $95.99 USD.

The TNVC Thermal Remote Battery utilizes a 6700mAh battery, and can provide up to 13 hours of power to your thermal weapons sight, giving you all-night tactical ops (operations) or hunting ability, without having to replace expensive batteries. When your full night of hunting is over, just plug the TRB into a USB power source to recharge it for more operating or hunting. Pretty good. Easy-peasy.

The TNVC TRB’s battery fits inside a nicely-designed, durable “slimline polymer cradle” that attaches to your AR’s MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” rail system/tactical hand guard. See the accompanying photos to see how the TRB mounts up. The TNVC is hands-down the best and most cost-effective onboard battery power system DR’s seen for thermal weapons sights, period. It’s a nice solution.

Defense Review hasn’t yet run a FLIR ThermoSight Pro PTS233 thermal weapon sight at the range or in the field, but we’ve looked through it and fiddled around with the buttons a bit. Being a FLIR product, we can only assume it’s durable, and will hold up well during tactical night ops and/and or hunting operations. DR writer/contributor and chief new-product tester Jeff Gurwitch would have to run it for a little while and give it the green light for DR to officially sign off on it (PTS233), but again, it looks very good to us.
