DefenseReview (DR) saw a lot of cool new tactical tech at SHOT Show 2012, and we’re going to start with Wilcox Industries’ latest 5/8″ and .40″ riser weapon mounts (cantilevered flip mounts), which Travis Mitchell was kind enough to demonstrate for us. Both Wilcox weapons mounts are designed to mount either an Aimpoint Red Dot Sight or L3 EOTech HWS (Holographic Weapon Sight) combat optic/optical gunsight and 3X magififier optic, where the magnifier can be quickly flipped out of the way (off to the right side). The Wilcox .40″ does away with the usual thumb screws and instead uses allen keys for tightening. The Wilcox weapons mounts are of course compatible with any Mil-Std-1913 “Picatinny” rail system.

Video clips are below.

DefenseReview recently visited Wilcox Industries’ manufacturing plant and company headquarters in Newington, New Hampshire (near Portsmouth, NH), and we got to view, handle and play with some of their coolest toys, including (but not limited to) the new Wilcox Powered Rail Systems and combat-proven Wilcox Patriot Hybrid Life Support System/Breaching System (with exothermic cutting torch). DR has video footage of these items from that trip.

While Defense Review was at the Wilcox Industries booth, Mr. Mitchell handed us a really nice leather packet on a very important event on July 3, 2012 (7/03/12) at the Boston World Trade center. It’s called the 2012 New England Warrior Benefit/Gala, or 2012 Boston Warrior Gala, and it looks like it will be AMAZING. While Travis was explaining the event to us, he talked about the bike (motorcycle) raffle where five bikes will be raffled off, and he mentioned something about the “Boston Pops“, or Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), performing.

The purpose of the New England Warrior Benefit/Gala is to raise money for the following organizations:

U.S. Navy — Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF)

U.S. Army — Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)

U.S. Air Force — Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF)

U.S. Marine Corps — Semper Fi Fund (SFF)

General Benevolent — No Greater Sacrifice (NGS)

Again, five very cool bikes (motorcycles), one for each organization, will be raffled off at the event, so check it out! Raffle tickets cost $35.00 each.
