Windham Weaponry recently introduced a 16″ 7.62x39mm Russian tactical AR (AR-15) carbine called the 7.62×39 SRC (Model R16M4FTT-762) that utilizes a conventional-looking AR-15/M4/M4A1 magwell and highly curved 7.62x39mm mag (magazine), constituting a very different approach from previous 7.62x39mm AR’s DefenseReview (DR) has seen, including the Rock River Arms LAR-47 and Knight’s Armament Co. (KAC) SR-47, which both utilize a significantly shortened, angled magwell for rocking the magazine in Kalashnikov AK-47/AKM-style.

So, it’ll be interesting to see how reliable and easy/fast to reload the Windham Weaponry 7.62×39 SRC will be. DR hopes it’s both (reliable and easy/fast to reload), because we like the 7.62x39mm Russian cartridge, and we love our AR’s.
