YHM/Sound Tech ‘Phantom’ Quick-Attach/Detach Sound Suppressors for Spec-Ops

We forgot to write about this one after SHOT Show 2006. At the show, we got to view and handle the Yankee Hill Machine (YHM) /Sound Technology (a.k.a. Sound Tech) Phantom 5.56 Sound Suppressor (5.56x45mm Silencer/Sound Suppressor)/Phantom Flash Hider/Suppressor/Q.D. Mount system at the Yankee Hill Machine Company, Inc. (YHM) booth. The Phantom System is designed specifically for the SOPMOD M4/M4A1 Carbine, and it is one slick system.

The Mark White/Sound Tech-designed and developed 5.56 x45mm silencer/sound suppressor, or "muzzle can" reduces muzzle noise by up to -35 db (decibals) and attaches to and detaches from the YHM Phantom Flash Hider/Q.D. Mount securely in seconds via hand tightening, without tools. The flash hider/"Q.D. Mount" (Quick-Disconnnect Mount or Quick-Detach Mount) provides for a true (secure) quick-attach/detach system, while still retaining a threaded-type attachment system. According to…

the YHM website, "A patented gas seal keeps the threads clean so the suppressor will not bind, making removal a breeze. The Phantom Flash hider supports the sound suppressor in two places making misalignment nearly impossible, even if the sound suppressor is not fully tightened." The YHM Phantom Flash Hider reduces muzzle flash by 99%.

Yankee Hill Machine also makes a Phantom 7.62 Sound Suppressor/Flash Hider/Q.D. Mount package (7.62 x 51mm) that reduces muzzle noise by up to -32 db.
